Hark! The herald angels sing….Glory be…. The Christmas hymns sing of them, the Christmas stories have many mentions of them. I believe in my guardian angel and so many others who attend to us, help us and guide us. I have an angel story that happened in our home during one of Tom’s many surgery recoveries. I reprint it here for angels know no season. They are present when needed.

Reprint of Napkinwriter blog:

I Have Something to Tell You

This happened in the early morning hours of Friday, Feb. 22, 2013

“I have something to tell you, stay there a minute.” This is what Tom said to me this morning when he got up. I was sitting in my “quiet chair” with early morning prayer and meditation. I stayed where I was.

He returned and sat down in his lounger chair and told me the following:

“Last night I got up around 2:00 o’clock AM. As I turned to come around the bed to head into the bathroom, I noticed a bright light near the door of the bedroom. I turned to look at it and I saw a white form just leaving the room. I only saw the back of her. My first thought was, angel.
I walked to the doorway and looked down the hallway that opens to the kitchen area. I saw two of these white forms standing and conversing with one another. They had white/tannish flowing garments. I could not see where they ended at the floor. I watched them. I could not hear them. I felt very peaceful.

I had to go to the bathroom so I did and when I returned, they were not there. I still felt the peace and returned to bed and went back to sleep.”

Tom is healing from the first of three scheduled skin cancer surgeries. I had given him Reiki healing/love energies as he fell asleep last night. The heat coming from his body was quite intense as I held my hands softly above his head and drew the Reiki healing symbols onto him. He fell asleep quite easily and was not in pain.

My guidance tells me Tom saw his healers. He said he knew them to be feminine, but doesn’t know how he knew. He has Archangel Raphael, the healing angel Icon above his workspace since his back surgery a couple years ago, when the green Raphael Energy flooded him with an instant turn-around from a crisis situation in the hospital.

So I have been conversing with my angel guides on a regular basis now for a couple of years. I write what I hear as my guidance in my journals. I sense their loving and guiding presence around and within me. And when I say “they” and “their” I mean only ONE — for that is all there is, ONE. In fact, the name I’ve been given to converse with is…..WHO — Whole and Holy One.
This year, I have opened to not only hearing and writing and sensing my guide, but I have told my guide I Am ready to see it.

And WHO sees his guide(s)? Tom, of course. He has that type of accepting spirit. I read, and meditate and think, and “do”, all of which has some merit. But I know that I need more of a “Mary” consciousness than a busy “Martha” (but bless her abundantly for I love her biblical activity and understand where she’s coming from). At least my hallway was neat for the angels to converse in!

Then I remember an angel correspondence I wrote down and posted in Napkinwriter and went back to look for it. This was posted one and one-half years before last night’s experience.
I am glad with joy! In the year of 2013- My Intention Mandala Year of Joy and Fun!

Angels in a Doorway

August 25, 2011 by Napkinwriter

A Message from the Angels
By Susan H. Hajec
Dedicated to Margo & Janet

In an open doorway, there is a space.
It is the space between
where you are
and where
you are going.

Pay attention to what comes to you
when you open this door
with the space between
you
and your future.

We are in that space
as your guides
and as your direction.
We are your angels.

So there is no need to fear
when you make your choices
from the love and light
that are in this doorway.

We are willing to pull you
or push you through the appearance
of obstacles or a harsh wind.

In this doorway you can create
a new now
filled with what is attracting you.
It takes only your decision.

There is no need
to hurry, dear one,
no need to rush.

Just be in the quiet
in the space
in the open door

between you
and your future.
We are here!
And in a millisecond
of the time it takes you to decide,
we will make it happen!

Again, do not be afraid.
It feels like you are lost
but you are not.
You are just in the space

in the open door
immersed in possibility and potential.

When what you have enjoyed
has come to an end,
it is your turn

to choose once again
what comes next
in the open door
where you can create
and just be.

Amy’s Angel

NOTE:  It is December 19, 2015 and I am thinking about angels today, so I repost one of my favorite stories about angels….I have posted quite a few about our family experiences with angels and there are more to come. I love keeping company with them!

Once upon a time, in the land of Kalamazoo, a small princess was born. She was a beautiful baby girl who had come to bring much joy and happiness into the lives of her mother and father, the Queen and King of the land of Kalamazoo.

This little princess’ name was Amy. The King and the Queen took very good of this baby and she grew to be a happy, happy child who truly believed in magic and knew she belonged in the kingdom of princesses.

Princess Amy especially loved her “Baby Bear” who was with her from the time she was born, until now more than six years later. She loved to play pretend and did a lot of this with her GrandQueen Grama.  They built castles together, played hide and seek together, walked on rainbows and climbed mountains together. They loved spending time together.  They often had tea together.

IMG_4198

Princess Amy was very often seen in sparkly dresses and play clothes. If it had sparkles on it, she loved it.

IMG_0403

And Princess Amy loves rainbows. She draws and colors them all the time. She even draws rainbow snowflakes.

IMG_3936

This is a picture of Amy and Grama walking under the rainbow and in the background, Dziadzia is watching us from behind the rainbow.

Then one day, she drew and cut out a rainbow snowflake, encouraging spring to come after this very long, cold winter.

IMG_4303

The very next day the sun shone brightly and melted some of the big piles of snow we have from the winter snowstorms.

Lately, almost every time Amy is playing with Grama, she mentions she is going to have her tonsils out in a short while. Now, with less than a week to go, she even counts down every day until next Monday when the operation is scheduled.

I mentioned to her Queen Mother that we could help Amy’s anxiety a little if she knew she had a special guardian angel looking over her at all times and they could talk about that leading up to the big day.  I told her I would draw her angel and bring it to her and that, of course, her special angel would be a rainbow angel with lots of sparkles on her.

A few nights later, I got a call from the Queen. She said that Amy needed her angel right now, since she knew I was going to find it for her.

With all the graces that angels bring to us, her angel flew right into me in an image I found on the computer.  I had taken a photo of Amy a week earlier as “the sleeping princess” awaiting her prince (me), who would kiss her and wake her up.

So the two pieces went together beautifully on a SoulCollage® card which I was working on at the very moment of the Queen’s phone call. The power and mystery of SoulCollage® works that way.  I finished it up and drove over to see the Princess.

IMG_4260

Princess Amy was thrilled to see her angel. She recognized her right away as her own angel that God sent to her. She said she sees the very sparkles that were on the card already in her room when it is dark.  “Sometimes I even feel a breeze in my hair and that must be the angel’s wings,” she said. “Look, even her hair and wings are rainbows.”

“I am going to keep this forever,” she told me. “I’m going to keep this until I grow up and then I can show my own little girl my guardian angel and tell her about hers.”

She clasped her to her heart and said she wasn’t going to be alone and not so afraid to go to sleep now that she knew all the company she would have: her mom and dad, her baby bear, God in her heart and “Sparkle Rainbow Diamond” guardian angel. She thought she should tell the doctor there was going to be an angel in the room.  And that God was in her heart and would tell the angel everything she needed and for the doctor to do everything right.

Her confidence and courage built by the moment, and my daily prayer is that all that good energy stays with her through her first major medical experience. The angel can do that.

And back in the land of Kalamazoo, we will have the popsicles and ice cream ready.

  1. Thanks for sharing Good Luck to Amy. With all the Royals around her and her Angel. She is going to be better than O K

  2. how very beautiful Sue, I am sure this angel will be a big comfort and healing aid for Amy … wishing her a good surgery and a very quick recovery … you are an angel yourself Sue!

Advent Post

As the 2015 Advent season begins on this Sunday, I reflect on a few of its themes and how they play out in my life.

There is always………the waiting.

Waiting, with the action of one step at a time going on simultaneously. For I cannot afford to be paralyzed by inactivity nor lack of faith. I need to find myself in this very moment, and how  this moment blesses me, what this moment calls me to be.

This moment is like a prism, turning and shining in the light. Facets of the call, all present at once: I can be supportive, I can be kind, I can be taking care of self, I can hold belief, love and gratitude for this grace and gift of the moment. I don’t have to wait for any of those things.

I can wait to proclaim or judge by appearances. I can wait to label falsely. But, most of all, I am called to believe in the light…the light that the darkness could not put out. The light present before, through and after all creation. It still, shines brightly in our crazed world of gigantic needs.

This is the light that shines in me and in all others. This is the light that Advent calls us to see.

Father Alfred Delp, S.J was a German Jesuit priest condemned to death by the Nazis in Berlin, Germany. He wrote the following, as he was imprisoned:

Those who wait for you will not be disappointed.” Ps 25:3

“Despite this gloomy time, with a certitude about life and faith, we have set up the Advent wreath, even though no one knows how long it will stand or whether all four of its candles will be lit.

…”the course of the liturgical year and the message continues and we keep on doing things — but not for sake of custom or tradition. It comes from a sense of certitude about things and mankind and revelation — things that are fixed and valid in and of themselves.” (My italics)

These give mankind the right to light candles and to believe in the light and brightness of existence.

The basic message of this First Sunday of Advent is to attain to the Source. It enlightens our lives and dismisses what is questionable, so that we can believe in the brightness.

The human being we are must realize that he is a wayfarer, a scout, hungering and restless. He is dependent upon an angel approaching and touching him with the wing stroke reminder of a higher message.”

These words from Father Delp, written in the 1940s ring truth for me today in 2015.  I have felt the wing strokes of the angels swiftly touching me, particularly in the past couple of months during a time when I truly needed reminders of a higher message.

The wing strokes came from the graciousness of nature, in its splendid autumn colors, and the first cool breezes of winter approaching and a fresh first snowfall, which always brings joy to me. These messages have come from friends and family and prayer warriors helping bridge a time of diagnosis, surgeries and healing for my love partner husband in life. And not even being able to see the wings upon their backs, the higher messages have come through the skilled medical personnel, who performed their missions of healing and care throughout this time.

The light was present in the quietness of daily prayer, reflection, reading and meditation.

Carriers of the light…..we look to and upon each other.  And the darkness cannot put it out.

Arch Angel Gabriel — the announcer. I’m working on giving my creativity and prayer room “a new look”.  It takes so much longer than what could be efficiently possible because I stop to read passages from books on the shelves, regroup journals and art images that lead me down other trails…and sometimes into mini-creating as I go, taking me off the path of the real job.

Here is one example.  I turned to a page in one journal dated 6-6-11.  For several pages around it, I seem to be focused on angel meditation and listening which led to these words noted upon the page for that date.

Stay the Course.

The word is Love.
The word is Prayer.
The word is Silence.
The word is Compassion.
The word is Stillness.
The word is I Am.
The word is Patience.

Stay the course, stay the course, stay the  course.

I will help you.
You are not alone.
In your humility
you are my vessel of Love and Creation.

Stay open, let me come through you.

Be in Harmony.
It is the only place of co-creation.

Stay the course, stay the course, stay the course.

A Message from the Angels

By Susan H. Hajec

Dedicated to Margo & Janet

In an open doorway, there is a space.
It is the space between
where you are
and where
you are going.

Pay attention to what comes to you
when you open this door
with the space between
you
and your future.

We are in that space
as your guides
and as your direction.
We are your angels.

So there is no need to fear
when you make your choices
from the love and light
that are in this doorway.

We are willing to pull you
or push you through the appearance
of obstacles or a harsh wind.

In this doorway you can create
a new now
filled with what is attracting you.
It takes only your decision.

There is no need
to hurry, dear one,
no need to rush.

Just be in the quiet
in the space
in the open door

between you
and your future.
We are here!
And in a millisecond
of the time it takes you to decide,
we will make it happen!

Again, do not be afraid.
It feels like you are lost

what comes next

My poem was reposted by Christine on her dadirridreaming blog site.

The poem was written in 2011.   Later in the winter months of 2013 when Tom was recovering from a trio of major skin cancer surgeries, he got up in the middle of the night because he heard “male voices” down the hallway.  He opened  the door of the bedroom, looked down the hallway into the open space between the kitchen and living room and saw two light beings standing and discussing something.  He went into the bathroom off our bedroom and when he returned, it was quiet and they were gone.   The next morning, Tom said to me, “I have something to tell you,” and proceded to tell me about this.

The presence of the light beings in our home did not surprise Christine.

I wrote an account of this on a blog titled, “I Have Something to Tell You.”  If I can figure out how to get it back up here, I will repost it too.

I am looking back on some notes I had written early on the morning last month when Tom had his surgery. I had waited some time in a rather drab and dreary looking room allotted to those of us awaiting our loved one to complete their surgery. I knew it was going to be several hours for me, so I took a stroll down to the sunlit atrium, knowing I would draw some good energy and joy from the sun streaming in the long corridor sky window.

Water Street Cafe is a vendor of coffees, sweets and sandwiches in that same area so I ordered a hazelnut-flavored black small coffee as their rates are quite high. The original Water Street Cafe is squeezed in between two main downtown Kalamazoo one-way thoroughfares just aside the railroad tracks. It is famous for being a favored writer stop-in. I guess it must be famous, published writers who stop in if they can afford the brew on a regular basis.

But today I handed over the required amount and sat down at a near-by table big enough to spread out my notebook and keep my cell phone handy for upstairs notification. I got one. Surgery was started at 10:01 am after a 6:30 arrival this morning.

When I look straight out into the sun-lit hall, I see the decorative etched glass wall creation that announces the corporate values of the medical center. The word Creativity takes center stage right in front of me. There are other panels with values but I randomly, it seems, chose to sit where this was my focus.

Actually, I don’t really believe it was a random choice. It was a guided move, probably from the angel realm, because it immediately graced me and lifted my being above the reaches of anxiety for the time being.

I had come there to open a notebook and copy my own wildly written notes from a conference call I had been on the night before with Janet Conner, a writer about creativity and the spiritual life, and Margo Mastromarchi, ATP,who is an angel guide reader and experienced and educated person . She certified with Doreen Virtue, who is well published in knowledge and education on the angels and schooled through a PhD. degree in psychology. And I was listening to angel communications on that call.  The subject was about creativity, our life purpose, and how to trust our guidance.

So here I sat the next day with the word Creativity, boldly and beautifully reflected off the etched glass and sunbeams streaming into it to make it a lustrous presence. The smaller words on the panel are: gifts and Spirit.

Creativity — the word that is my work. I create and I create with love.  My creativity is my gift to the world. It is the gift I bring to next week’s angel reading. My creativity has always been a gift and always comes from Spirit.

Creativity and the act of creating always give me joy. Other’s creative works that come from love and Spirit make joy dance within me. Jan Phillips says we are born to create. I know I Am born to create and my creations come from love and from Spirit.

I am thinking about the Angel Reading on the telephone last night. I am thinking about the things that bring me joy, that is how the angels said, you can know you are about the right purpose. What brings me joy are: writing Napkinwriter, sharing healing Reiki, the sound of ocean waves, the breeze of the trees, living as a loving being, the smile on any of my grandchildren’s faces, the happiness my children express, feeling the love and the Presence of God, and being grateful for every day of my life.

To think I am actually hearing communication from an angel through an angel reader requires me feeling free and loose about creativity; for later on my rational mind goes all a dither to back up “star points” my intuitive muse within me dances around and says “Yes, yes, yes, can you hear me now?”

So I think of Scripture that tells me, “for I have given you angels to watch over you, to safeguard you on your way.” And that’s all they claim to be doing — guiding the ones who choose to listen.

The angels say we complicate things in our human existence. That the Will of God is not that hard to understand. It is our choice — not our indecision — to be in the Will of God with what we choose to create — as long as our intention is pure and harmless to others. Then rational “Ruby-mind” comes right up with, “You shall decide upon a thing and it shall be established for you,” and “say either yes or no, anything in between (indecision) is anathema or of the devil and shall be spit right out of my mouth!”

I shall not go into the depth of the call,  nor one more that followed that, but I will say I listened with all that was within me. The very top of the call started off with the angels saying that taking care of one-self is paramount and that at this time on earth the most important thing to know is that “You are One.”  Again, an ancient teaching, but the angels, who carry the roles of guidance and messenger, are saying this is the important message for us “to get” right now, and begin to work with it, come to understand it, and be it.

This is the light, that far surpasses the sunlight shining on the glass-etched word Creativity on the hospital atrium wall. It’s a light that is too bright to look at all at once. So I think we can practice it little by little, by finding the switch within ourselves and shining wherever we can, whenever we can. There is no large or small. All our light counts.

I think this is right because the angels caught up with me two more times during Tom’s hospital stay and it wasn’t on a telephone call! They were there. I know it.
